We’ve all got a website, you’ve got to have one right? The internet streets are paved with gold, you just need to get your site up there and business will boom!
Maybe you went through this thought process sometime in the past and made the decision to fork out for a web designer. You got your site and it’s been up for months/years now but enquiries haven’t been filling your inbox or jamming your switchboard so you’ve decided it’s just a myth – yes there are some people who have made a lot of money on the web, but that’s because it’s right for their market and you’re not in that market!
Well let me tell you now, if you are in a market where people buy you’re product or service, then the internet is right for you!
That is an absolute fact! The problem is it’s not as easy as people make it out.
The internet will open your product up to the whole world, increasing your market by millions of percent, but it will also increase your competition dramatically as well!
Now lets put things into perspective. How much did you spend on your website? £500? £1000? Maybe more? I don’t know what market you’re in, but lets say you’re an Accountant, how do you think your £1000 marketing investment compares with say KPMG? I’ll give you a clue…. IT DOESN’T! In the online market this is who you’re competitors are so you need to make sure you market smart and your website is faultless – a web designer won’t give you that!
To market smart, you’ve got to focus on two areas, attracting visitors and converting them to enquiries both of which I cover in other articles.
